Paul Johnson was born in Aberdeen, Washington on June 12, 1919.

His parents, Gust and Lydia Johnson had immigrated to the state of Washington from Sweden around the turn of the century. Paul was one of 2 children, the other being Edgar.

He attended grade school, junior high, and then graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen in 1937.

After graduation, he attended the Triple Cities Institute Business College in Aberdeen and then went to work for Raynor Inc. a pulp and paper mill, working in their chemistry laboratory. During this time he enrolled as a part-time student at Gray's Harbor Junior College in Aberdeen and he finished his freshman year before enlisting in the U.S. Air Corp on December 28, 1941.

He served on several bases in the United States and was sent to the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations in January of 1944, serving in North Africa and Italy. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement during the Rome-Arno Campaign.

He returned from overseas duty in November of 1945 and received his honorable discharge from the service in December of 1945.

He returned to Aberdeen and then moved to Denver where he enrolled at the University of Denver in September of 1946, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in December of 1950. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

He then met and married Euvonne Scott LaFluer in December of 1953 and has 3 daughters, Stephanie, Shanda and Michele.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Denver and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Paul is survived by his wife, Euvonne, his 3 daughters, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren

A Funeral Service with a Military Flag presentation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
