Patricia "Patty" Adams Gandy, 58, of Fort Collins, died Nov. 9, 2006, at Poudre Valley Hospital. Our dearly loved mother and wife, Patty, was born Aug. 31, 1948, in Long Beach, Calif., to Russell Ball Adams and Lucille Nelson Adams. She married John T. Gandy on Aug. 23, 1969, in Bellflower, Calif. Patty was a school psychologist and received numerous awards and high honors in her education and throughout her career in California and South Carolina. She was an expert in autism and persons with disabilities. She had a long and distinguished career in school psychology in Richland School District Two in Columbia, S.C. Her passion in life was working with children with disabilities and special needs. After retirement Patty became very committed to the field of substance abuse, especially among teens and young adults. Patty enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and special pets Katie, Lucy and Lambeth. Her hobbies included antiquing, traveling the globe, running, hiking, cooking and entertaining, and snowshoeing. She also enjoyed volunteering in her daughter's special needs classroom at Windsor Middle School. Survivors include her husband, John T. Gandy and daughter, Rachael J. Gandy, both of Fort Collins; a brother, Fred Adams of Albany, Ore.; and sister, Carolyn Carter of Bozeman, Mont. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents. Patty will forever be in our hearts and the hearts of those she touched. A celebration of her life will be held for her family and close friends.
