Patricia was born in Denver, Colorado on June 19,1933, to Russell and Nora Taft. After graduating from North Denver High School, she completed a nursing program at Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Denver. She also participated in youth rallies and played the piano and organ in church. Patricia met her future husband, Richard, during those rallies.
Patricia married Richard Blatchley on August 28, 1954, while working as an RN in Denver. They served in the pastorates of several churches, including Commerce City, Colorado, Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona, Chicago, Illinois, Stillwater, Minnesota, and Dacono, Colorado. They also served for a week as camp pastor and camp nurse at Prescott Pines Camp in Prescott, Arizona for five summers.
In addition to being the mother of four sons, Patricia was also very active in the pastorates they shared, working with youth and playing piano and organ in the church services.
Her second full-time job raising four sons brought much joy to her life. Her continual prayer support made a big difference in their family life.
Preceded in death by her husband, Patricia is survived by her four sons and their wives: Rick (Eileen), Bruce (Liz), Tim (Cheryl), and Matt (Debbie); eight grandchildren: Jonathan (Haeli), Christopher (Kristen), Andrew (Hope), Megan, Jessica, Justin (Emma), Amanda, Nate (Bailey); and nine great-grandchildren: Livi, Brynn, Wells, Dorothy, Elinor, Leland, Isla, Emilia and Miles.
She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Janell (Don) Robinson, brothers-in-law Ron Blatchley and Bill Blatchley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Rev. Wade Pacheco will officiate.
