Owen Bob Steward, Jr., of Fort Collins passed away on Dec. 31, 2008 at Poudre Valley Hospital. "Bob" was born Dec. 21, 1925, to Owen Bob Steward, Sr., and Margaret Alice Martin Steward in East St. Louis, Ill., He attended Laurel Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1943. Following graduation, he worked as an auto body repairman and painter at Ghent Motors in Fort Collins and later at Dinneen Motors in Cheyenne until 1957. He worked for the Woodward Governor Company full time from December of 1957 until September of 1989 as a supervisor in the Methods Engineering Department. Then he worked part-time at Woodward Governor for five more years. He fully retired from Woodward Governor in 1994. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1963 and served as an usher, and elder, and on various other committees. Bob had many interests. He loved cars - especially his '55 T-Bird. He enjoyed stock car racing, reading, and local history. He also loved dogs, music and theatrical productions. He was a member of the Larimer County Historical Society and served as treasurer. He had also been on the board of the Pioneer Association. He married Pearl Ann Maxwell on July 21, 1962. They had three children, Steven Blaine, Robert Bruce, and Shelley Ann Steward. They later divorced. Bob is survived by his son, Steve Steward of Fort Collins; son-in-law, Bruce Anderson of Plum City, Wisc.; brothers, Hal Steward and his wife, Betty, of San Diego, Calif., William Steward and his wife, Betty, of Fort Collins; and a sister, Imogene Peterson of Fort Collins. Two nephews and their families also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Bob Steward, Sr., and Margaret A. Steward; his daughter, Shelley Ann Anderson; a son, Robert Bruce Steward; a brother, Ken Steward. Bohlender Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements which are pending.
