Orfa L. Stinnett 87, of Fort Collins, died June 14, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Stinnett was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Eskridge, Kan., to Carl Southwick and Alice Peterson Southwick. In 1928, her family moved to Del Norte. She was raised on the Embargo Ranch, a dairy farm near Del Norte. In 1938 she moved to Fort Collins to attend Colorado A & M. She graduated from Colorado A & M in 1941 with a Home Economics Degree and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Orpha married James Warren Stinnett on May 19, 1942 in Fort Collins. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for many years. Orpha's biggest joy in life was her family. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family, knitting, bridge, golf, and visitting antique stores. She was a Girl Scout Troup Leader. In later life she enjoyed making dish clothes and giving them to people. She was a volunteer at Poudre Valley Hospital, Meals On Wheels, First Presbyterian Church, S.A.I.N.T.S., and P.E.O. She loved her C.S.U. Rams and Denver Broncos. Survivors include her daughter, Leah Stinnett of Fort Collins/San Diego, Calif.; a granddaughter, Tristen Faith and her husband Mark Porter; two great-granddaughters, Annie and Claire Porter, all of Colorado Springs; along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding Orpha in death are her husband; a daughter, Retta Jane "Tinker" Faith; and two brothers, Cloise and Don Southwick. A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 531 S. College, at 1 p.m. on Thursday. A private interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery. Rev. Rich McDermott will officiate at the service.
