Olive "Rae" Smilie

Olive "Rae" Smilie, 81 died Nov. 9, 2008 at Ptarmigan Assisted Living in Loveland. Mrs. Smilie was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Fort Collins to Olive Wilkins and Tura Wilkins. Rae graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1945. She married George Smilie in 1945, at the Fort Collins Methodist Church. Rae lived in Fort Collins for 74 years and California for six years. She was a purchasing agent for Agua-Tec. She enjoyed visits to the ocean and loved to watch western movies. Survivors include her two sons, Michael Smilie of Loveland and Dennis Smilie of Fort Collins; a sister, Mary Dell Portner of Wellington; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren. Preceding Rae in death are her former husband, George; her son, Blaine Smilie; and both parents. A Private Family Service will be held.
