Listen to Obituary
Olin Blehm, life-long resident of Fort Collins, passed into eternal life Thursday, September 26, 2013 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was 86. Olin was born July 5, 1927 to John H. and Amelia Blehm. He attended school at Rocky Ridge, Cache La Poudre and graduated from Timnath High. He farmed with his father from a young age until he was called into service in the army, October of 1950, serving during the Korean War. Upon his return, he met and married Beverly Troudt. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in July. Olin worked for Public Service Company of Colorado Xcel Energy for 33 years, before retiring in September 1986. They have two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy and Sam Eddy of Houston, Texas and Connie and John Jesser of Fort Collins; six grandchildren, BrienTracy, Lindsee and Kevyn Eddy of Houston, and Cathryn, Austin, and Jillian Jesser of Fort Collins; Olin also has a sister, Helen Denies of Sheridan, Wyoming and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marlene Souders. Olin was, as a good friend mentioned, a stranger to no one, loyal, sincere and extremely generous. His smile, sense of humor and love for God and his family are just a few things he'll be remembered for. He was proud of his German heritage, loved and spoke the language and never passed on a chance to listen to a polka or dance a dutch hop. Fishing, gardening, jigsaw and word puzzles, attending his children and grandchildren's activities and playing cards with his best friend and cousin, Milton, were some of his favorite pastimes. He was no stranger to hard work and kept active even through his illness. He was a member of the American Legion and First United Methodist Church. A memorial service is planned for Friday, October 4, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover Street. Contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice or First United Methodist Church in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
