Norris A. Drovdal

Norris Drovdal, 78, of Fort Collins formerly of Gillette, Wyoming passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Clare Bridge Cottage in Fort Collins, Colorado. Norris A. Drovdal was born March 16, 1931, the youngest of 12 children to Norwegian immigrants, Andrew and Sophia Drovdal in Peever, South Dakota. Norris married Norma J. DeHaai Drovdal on February 15, 1950 in Watertown, South Dakota. They moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1956. Norris was a milkman for Gates City Creamery/Gillette Dairy from 1956 to 1981 and then worked at IGA Grocery until his retirement in 1996. He and Norma moved to Ft. Collins in July of 2007. Norris and Norma served faithfully in the Trinity Lutheran Church for many years in Gillette. Norris enjoyed woodworking, annual trips to South Dakota, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma Drovdal, also of Clare Bridge in Fort Collins and his seven children: Sharon Hood Larry Fort Collins, Colorado, Douglas Drovdal of Eaton, Colorado, Paul Drovdal Len, Greeley, Colorado, Linda Allen Neil, Orchard, Colorado, Kari Knight Smokey, Fort Collins, Colorado, Peggy Gummeson, Littleton, Colorado and Bryce Drovdal Lisa of Fort Collins, Colorado; two sisters, Gladys Froke of Sun City, Arizona and Evelyn Krause of Watertown, 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Norris is preceded in death by his parents and 9 brothers and sisters. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 E. 9th Street, Gillette, Wyoming.
