Norman Lee Brown passed away on Sunday, July 27th. He was born June 28th, 1950, in Lamar. He attended elementary school in Walsh and Campo and after moving to Fort Collins in 1962 he attended Lincoln Junior High and was in the first graduating class of Poudre High School 1968 that attended all 3 years at the school. Norman earned degrees from Moody Bible Institute in 1972, North Park College in 1976, and Denver Theological Seminary in 1979. He served many years as a pastor, missionary and teacher. Norman was a small business owner in Fort Collins for more than 25 years. Norman had many passions. His love for the outdoors and camping kept him involved in Boy Scouts for many years, and he served as both a cub master and scoutmaster for his children and many others. This passion for the outdoors also gave him a profound interest in the national parklands which he visited regularly, and many nights camping allowed him to have regular ideal conditions for another interest, astronomy. His enthusiasm for pictures and love for photography have left a rich collection of images documenting his life, those whom he shared his life with, and the natural world that always beckoned him. He was also an avid bibliophile and leaves behind an extensive library. Norman's greatest lifelong passion was for trains, both model and life sized. He began collecting Lionel model trains in the 1950's, when he was a young boy, and continued collecting up until the time of his death. His children have many fond memories of model train shows, model train shops, train bridges, train museums and trains themselves. Norman will be most remembered as an interested, loving and beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. Norman is survived by his five children, Nathan Brown, Joel Brown, Andrew Brown, Autumn Brown and Amber Brown Rodriguez; his wife, Nina Brown; his eight grandchildren; his brothers, David Brown and Philip Brown; his sister, Janet Brown; his mother, Georgina Jordan and many other family members and friends. A memorial service in his honor will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 31st, at Mountain Range Church on the corner of Horsetooth and Shields 3601 S. Shields St. Friends may send condolences to the family at bohlenderfuneralchapel.com.
