Norma J. Boone, 74, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Columbine West Health and Rehab Facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. Norma was born March 7, 1935 at home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to William H. Cotton Anderson and Wilma McKitrick Anderson. She attended Mt. Vernon High School. Norma married her love, Lester V. Boone on December 22, 1954 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. They spent 42 years together and had two children. Norma was an avid reader, loved to shop antique stores and auctions, and spend time with her family and friends. She and her family moved to Champaign, Illinois in 1967 where she was a long-time member of the Agronomy Wives at the University of Illinois. She loved to travel, taking many road-trips all across the US with Les. Norma was also very happy to experience Japan with her son, Andy and his family. After Les died, Norma moved back to Mt. Vernon where she was pleased to welcome her granddaughters, Jessica and Ruli into her home while they continued their education in the US. She moved to Fort Collins in 2004 to be near her three grandsons. Norma is survived by her son, Andrew V. Boone and wife, Chisato Hayashi of Nagoya, Japan, her daughter, Dawn Boone and husband Michael Kelly of Fort Collins; granddaughters, Jessica Boone of Fort Collins and Ruli Boone of Chicago, Illinois; grandsons, Matthew B. Kelly, Rhys A. Kelly and Logan M. Kelly of Fort Collins; her sisters and brother, Jeanette Metje, James R. Anderson and wife, Wilma all of Mt. Vernon, and Linda Allison and husband, Duane of Nason, Illinois. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, "Cotton" and Wilma Anderson; her husband, Les, and niece, Lynn Ellen Metje Burwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524. Visitation will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, December 29, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Graveside services will take place at a later date in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
