Nolan R. Maciel passed away Friday, July 29, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Nolan was born on Jan. 31, 1949, in Fort Collins. He graduated from Poudre High School in 1967 and served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. Nolan worked various jobs after the service and ultimately retired as a construction laborer from Local 720 on Jan. 1, 2005. Nolan especially enjoyed playing pool, fishing and barbecuing. Earlier in life he participated in flag football and basketball leagues and tournaments. Nolan is survived by his mother, Frances Maciel; brother, Robert R. Maciel; his sister, Veronica L. Maciel; and daughter, Emily. He was preceded in death by father, Pete Maciel; and brothers, Joseph and Peter Maciel Jr. Although Nolan won't be able to barbecue anymore, that very enjoyable, delightful aroma will manifest itself on the 4th of July. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 300 W. Mountain Ave., Fort Collins, CO 80525. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Nolan R.
