Nemecio Gilbert "Nemo" Martinez, III, passed away suddenly on August 14, 2013, in Loveland, CO. Gilbert to his family, Nemo to his friends was born on Feb. 16, 1963, in Fort Collins, to Gilbert and Elsie Martinez. He graduated from Poudre High School and attended Colorado State University. In high school, he played baseball, football, and wrestled. Gilbert worked construction with his father, until a jeep accident left him disabled. Since an early age, Gilbert was an artist. He also enjoyed fishing, talking to anyone and everyone, and helping those in need. Gilbert is survived by his parents, Gilbert and Elsie Martinez of Loveland; partner, Beth Gatewood of Loveland; son, Joseph Maes of Fort Collins; daughters, Marquette and Stephanie Martinez of Fort Collins, and Marina Martinez of Greeley; sister, Bernadette Felix of Fort Collins; brother, Reuben Martinez of Austin, TX; four grandchildren; "second mom" Sandra Brenizer; and many other loving relatives and special friends. Gilbert was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Jose and Conferina Lucero and Juan and Lucy Vigil. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Collins.
