Nell Vandriel

Nell VanDriel, 92, died February 8, 2015 in Fort Collins. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida, the daughter of Norris and Lucile (DaCosta) McElya, and graduated in 1944 from Florida State College for Women (now FSU) with a degree in Home Economics. She taught school in Miami for several years and met Edward VanDriel while attending summer school at Colorado A&M (CSU). They were married in 1950 and made their home in Fort Collins. Ed died in 1998. Nell is survived by three daughters, Frances (Bill) Worthington, Jean (Mike) Deneen, and Martha VanDriel (Ken Martin); four sons, Allen (Donna), David, Bryan (Marcia), and Gary (CJ Johnson); 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, six sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Norris McElya, Jr., seven brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday, February 12th at 10:30 a.m. at Bohlender Funeral Home, 121 W. Olive St. in Ft. Collins. Private interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery.
