Nelda Swift

Nelda Rose Swift, 88, of Fort Collins formerly of Wellington, died Dec. 8, 2008 at Poudre Valley Hospital. Mrs. Swift was born Aug. 24, 1920 in Farmington, W. Va., to John Leslie Matheny and Margaret Indiana Bland Matheny. Nelda married Ruben Swift on Jan. 8, 1942, in Friendship, N. Y. Nelda has lived in locally since 1964, moving from New York State. She was a custodian for Larimer County, a member of the Veterans Auxillary and enjoyed reading. Survivors include her sons, Ruben Swift and his wife, Cathy of Luling, Texas, Terry Swift and his family of Fort Collins; a daughter, Nelda Coria and her husband Joe of Wellington; one sister, Josephine Benham of Cuba,N.Y., 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Preceding Nelda in death are her parents; husband; and her daughter, Helen Margaret Widick, who preceded her in 2006.
