On October 2, 2006, the wonderful spirit of Nelda LoRae Griffith, 86 years young, was taken by her Lord as a result of complications from a broken hip and a massive stroke. Nelda was born on January 6, 1920, in Hill City, Kansas, to Lester Ray Worcester and Octa May Worcester, and was the 13th of their 13 children. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Bethany College and Kansas State University. Nelda married Gordon Lamar Griffith on November 26, 1941, in Manhattan, KS and had been his constant companion, homemaker, mother and partner in life for almost 65 years. Moving from New Concord, OH to Fort Collins in 1985, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, bridge, travel, and has been a long time member of The First Presbyterian Church. Nelda is survived by her beloved husband, Gordon L. Griffith of Fort Collins, her two children, daughter Michele Warner of Rocky Mount, NC., and son Michael Griffith and wife Ann of Fort Collins, her five grandchildren, Kristin Leggett and husband Warren of Louisville, KY, Jason Harrold and wife Audra of Rocky Mount, NC, Megan Latham and husband Chris of Morehead City, NC, Colleen Boyarko and husband George of Albuquerque, NM, Benjamin Griffith and wife Kelley of New Castle, CO, and her six great grand children, Hannah, Caroline, and Ethan Leggett, Emerson Harrold, Jackson Latham, and Steven Griffith. Nelda was preceded in death by both of her parents and all twelve of her brothers and sisters. Nelda was a gracious, kind, and caring woman who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Cremation has been completed and a Celebration of NeldaGÇÖs Life will be held at The First Presbyterian Church on College Ave. on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at 2:00 PM. Rev. Rich McDermott will officiate at the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Clon Matthews Scholarship Fund or The Katrina Relief Fund at The First Presbyterian Church in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
