Listen to Obituary
Nancy L Burk-Maxwell passed away peacefully at Poudre Valley Hospital on Friday, May 14, 2021 from chronic health medical conditions.

Nancy was born in Lamar, CO on June 27, 1939 to William Farmer and Goldie Hazel Burk (Taulman).

Nancy was the ultimate "American Graffitti" 1950's girl, with the ponytail, bobby socks and poodle skirt. She loved to dance and what a good dancer she was. Wherever she went, she had an exuberant personality, always ready to burst out with laughter. She was a wonderful cook and loved to cook.

Nancy met Bruce Maxwell while working at the Arrowhead Cafe, which was on the corner of 3 Silos Road (Summitview) and HWY 14. It had a large parking lot, where Bruce often parked his truck to woo Nancy.

They married on July 23, 1961. They lived in California for about 10 years, which was Bruce's home base as an over the road truck driver. She loved living in California, where she developed many friends. Over the years they enjoyed traveling to New Orleans, Corpus Christi, Florida, Padre Island and many other places with their travel trailer, and always with 2 little dogs.

In the 1970's they moved back "home" to Colorado where they bought 7 acres North of Fort Collins. Nancy brought those bare acres to grass and trees, where her cows and chickens could thrive.

20 years after retirement, they traveled to Padre Island every winter for several months or some other warm enjoyable spots. Sometimes they would go in the summer for a couple of months.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bruce Maxwell, 2 children, daughter Terry Schultz (Dave) & spn, Tony Maxwell (Sheri), 5 grandsons, and 9 great grand children, brothers, Lloyd Burk, Elden Burk and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Jackie and Dean Burk, and 2 sisters, Doris Lockman and Wanda Nace.

Nancy will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be on May 30, 2021 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel at 3:00 o'clock. Reception after at 209 Bradley Dr., Fort Collins, CO.

Nancy's niece, Debbie Dawkins will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American or National Kidney Foundation.
