Morris Lavern Due, 60, of Fort Collins, died December 18, 2009 at a local nursing home. Mr. Due was born November 24, 1949 in Bottineau, North Dakota to Joseph and LaVerna Due. Morris married Maria J. Cota, June 8, 2002 in Beaver Meadows, Colorado. Mr. Due lived in Wellington since 1974; he lived in Fort Collins the last seven years. He worked in retail sales. Morris was a firefighter for 12 years with the Wellington Fire Protection District. In Wellington he will always be known as Dr. Due, because of saving the life of a child early on in his career. He loved to garden. He was known for making the best sauerkraut in town. Survivors include his wife, Maria J. Due; sons, Brian Debby Hanson, and Brad Mary Hanson both of Fort Collins; daughters, Cindy Tom Nace of Wyoming, Kristi Duke Wade of Oregon and Hali Chuck Cawrse of Wellington; sisters, Dolly Schoonover, Lorraine Duane Peterson, Joan Emery Vigness, Helen Wes Satran, and Morris' twin sister, Marian Mike Nerpel all of North Dakota; first wife, Carolyn Johnson and second wife, Susan King both of Wellington; step-children, Brian Lily King of California, Carrie Brad Alcala of Wellington, Eugene Elam of Fort Collins and Mary Dickens of California; twenty grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Preceding Morris in death are his parents, Joseph and LaVerna; twin brothers, Wayne and Duane Due, and grandson, Matthew Edward. A Memorial Service will be held at Timberline Church, in the Main Auditorium on January 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Pastors John Engle and Darren Fred will officiate the service. A Reception will immediately follow the service in the East Auditorium. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Pathways Hospice or the American Cancer Society in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
