On March 20, 2023 Miriam E. Schultz finished her earthly journey and entered into heavenly glory with Jesus her Savior at Pathways Hospice, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Miriam was born on May 1, 1934 in McIntosh, SD, the fourth child of Rev. John and Mildred (Hoffmeister) Wendland. She became a child of God through baptism on May 20, 1934 at McIntosh, SD.
Miriam further affirmed her faith at her confirmation on August 8,1948 at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church, Bonduel, WI. She was a graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy, Fond du Lac, WI, class of 1952.
After graduation she attended nursing school at the former Summit Hospital near Okauchee Lake, WI.
On June 19,1955 she was joined in marriage to Romain(Shorty) Schultz at St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsville, WI. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Barbara (Rev. Richard) Zahn, Fond du Lac, WI, Pamela Dixon, Garden Valley,CA, Karen (Kevin) Yancy, Port Angeles, WA, and Quinn (Lisa) Schultz of Fort Collins, CO.
During Miriam's lifetime she and her husband lived in seven different states including, Wisconsin, Alaska, Montana, Washington, California, Nevada, and Colorado.
Miriam held various jobs in her lifetime which included, nursing, banking, real estate, home health care and school nurse.
She was a good Christian example to her family and was instrumental in helping to start WELS mission congregations in Anchorage, Alaska (1960's) and Missoula, Montana (1970's).
She is further survived by her 9 grandchildren; Nicole(Mark) Hom, Kayla(Scott) Ottmar, Justin (Chelsey) Zahn,
Ian (Maddy Post) Zahn, Kyle (Katie) Dixon, Ryan (Amy) Dixon, Nathan (Shelly) Yancy, Heather (Peter) Harrington and Whitney (Zach) Allison. She was also blessed with nine Great grandchildren, Eleanor Hom, Katurah and Raleigh Ottmar, Connor and Ethan Dixon, Rusty and Canyon Dixon, and Claire and Sarah Harrington.
Other survivors include, brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Luther and Maureen Wendland, sister, Dolores Jahnke, sisters-in-laws, Virginia Bryer, Betty Wendland, Winona Belligan, brother-in-Law and sister-in-law Pat and Margaret Schultz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her two brothers, Rev. Robert and Melvin Wendland, her sister Eunice Plieseis, two sisters-in-laws, Ramona Hagen and Virginia Arndt.
Miriam will also be missed by her church family at St. Peter Lutheran and all her special neighborhood friends at the Timbers.
The family would like to thank Pastor Joel Spaude for his visits and devotions and also to the wonderful staff and nurses at Pathways Hospice for all their care and love. We can't thank them enough! We are truly blessed.
