Mildred Dionedes S. Valdez, 95, of Fort Collins passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at home from health related complications. Mrs. Valdez was born April 24, 1916 in Redwing, Colorado, Huerfano County, in the San Luis Valley. She moved to Fort Collins in 1926 from Redwing and later married King Valdez, January 14, 1932. Mildred was a homemaker and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She worked several years at Colorado State University Food Service before retiring. She is survived by two sisters, Delphine Lopez of Fort Collins, Susie Sandoval of Denver and sister-in-law Puchie Salazar of Wellington; five daughters, Cordelia Jiron, Veronica Sanchez Jerry both of Fort Collins; Mary Pineda, Deborah Valdez both of Windsor; and Margaret Pete Vasquez of Tucson, Arizona; three sons, Vernie Valdez of Greeley, Dave Valdez and Joe Valdez both of Fort Collins. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grand children, and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Federico and Margarita Salazar; husband, King Valdez; three brothers, Ferdinando Salazar of Pueblo, J. Abe Salazar of Denver, and Joe Salazar of Wellington; three sisters, Josephine A. Jaramillo of Fort Collins, M. Lucy Gallegos of Boise Idaho, and Mary E. Douglass of Fort Collins; and a great grandson, Eddie Jiron, Jr. of Fort Collins. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or Meals on Wheels in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Collins, followed by Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Those who wish may view Mildred on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
