Michelle Gay Elder, 63, of Fort Collins, Co passed away December 27, 2023 at Medical Center of the Rockies after her years-long battle with cancer.
Michelle was born to Bill and Gloria Danner on February 21, 1960 in Ray County, MO. She graduated high school in 1978 from Sunset Hill School in Kansas City, MO. Afterward she attended Arizona State University. She turned her attention to commercial real estate sales and proved to be a top agent in the Phoenix, AZ area and earned more sales awards while living in Denver, CO. Michelle married Scott Elder in 1986. By 1992 they had two daughters and from that moment her attention was focused on her "young ladies" and the adventures of getting them through school, sports and early life, then onto college and into the world as successful women.
She was intelligent, creative, intuitive, funny, generous, ambitious and driven, willing to help any time and any way she could. Her instincts and insights on all things were second to none. Spending time at the pottery studio with her friends became an almost daily routine where she could laugh and create. Among her many interests she enjoyed tending her flowers, cooking (she was a fabulous cook!), playing cards with her daughter, catching a good happy hour and visiting her dad in Kansas City. Michelle had a big and memorable spirit, loved adventure and loved to travel. She made friends easily and kept the best close to her heart and for life - whether across town, across the country or even across the world.
Michelle is survived by her dad, Bill Danner; sisters Chere, Renee and Alyssa; daughter Nicole; several nieces and nephews; and friends around the world. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Danner; and brothers Adrian and Darryl.
There will be a celebration of Michelle's life on February 24, 2024 from 4 to 6 PM at Paul and Jack's Tavern, 1808 Clay St., North Kansas City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her favorite charity, World Central Kitchen.
