Listen to Obituary
Michael Ray Hunter, aged 69, left this mortal world on April 21, 2024. He grew up as a United States Air Force brat traveling the world following his father from post to post until they finally settled in Cheyenne. Michael was a talented mechanic and 'builder of things'. After graduating from WyoTech in Laramie, WY, he spent decades working as a mechanic, and eventually Service Manager, in the Cheyenne area. He had the privilege of working with the Dinneen family, other technicians, and all of the customers at Dinneen Lincoln Mercury for most of those years. Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as all of the wildlife and wild places in his home state of Wyoming and then in Colorado later in life. He instilled this love of wildlife in his kids and everyone he was close to throughout his life. He spent as much time as possible hunting, fishing, and hiking and his kids were always with him learning along the way. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Hunter, his mother, Patty Hunter, and his brother, Dennis Hunter, from Cheyenne Wyoming. He is survived by his son Jason Hunter and daughter-in-law Lori (Phillips) Hunter, his grandchildren Ava and Griffin Hunter, of Lander Wyoming; his son Aaron Hunter and daughter-in-law Erin (Golden) Hunter and grandchildren Jacob and Maddison Hunter, of Midland Texas; and his wife Nancy (Chaffin) Hunter of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Michael was a man of many talents, and had a generous heart and spirit. He will be missed by friends, family, and all those he touched throughout his life.
There will be a private memorial service later in the year. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Michael's name to The Wyldlife Fund, PO Box 890, Buffalo, WY 82834 or at
