Micah James Shelton, 52, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away on April 9, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him deeply. He was born on November 27, 1973.
Micah was a devoted husband, father, and family man whose greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Devri, whom he married on September 1, 2000; his son, Jaden; his daughters, Ilianna and Lexi; his father, George Shelton; and his brother, Brandon Shelton, and Judi Kofford. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him greatly. His love for his family was constant and unwavering, and he took pride in creating meaningful moments and lasting memories with them.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Shelton, and his father-in-law, Larry Kofford.
Micah proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995. During that time, he also pursued his education and graduated from Colorado State University in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems—an accomplishment that reflected his dedication and determination.
He cherished family traditions, especially the simple but meaningful times together—like going out each year to pick the perfect Christmas tree. Micah had a way of making everyday moments feel special and memorable.
A passionate fan of the Denver Broncos, Micah rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team. He loved the outdoors and found happiness in boating and camping, where he could relax, laugh, and enjoy time with family and friends. He also appreciated a good movie, always enjoying the chance to unwind and share that experience with those around him.
Micah had a love for bold flavors and good food—especially anything spicy—and enjoyed cooking, including making his favorite chili. Known for his sense of humor, he appreciated a good joke and brought laughter and light into the lives of those who knew him.
Micah will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, his deep love for his family, and the many memories he helped create. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the traditions he cherished, and the stories shared by those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on May 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sweet Heart Winery in Loveland, Colorado.
