Merilyn Joann Miller Tappan was born May 12, 1942 in Greeley, Colorado to Deforest William and Clara Amanda Miller of Greeley. She attended Greeley schools, graduating from Greeley High School in 1960. She also attended UNC for 2 years and graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in Finance in 1965.Merilyn was a resident of Fort Collins, CO since January 1962.
Merilyn was preceded in death by her parent. Survivors include her son, William Boyd Tappan of Fort Collins, and son's family: wife, Johanna (Jody); grandson, Deforest; and granddaughter, Alisha; brother, Dennis Leon Miller and his wife, Gail Cotton of Greeley; sister, Eulene Ellen Jansson and husband, Robert of Connecticut and Florida; brother, Deforest Kenneth Miller of California; and numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
Merilyn was a member of United Methodist Church in Greeley, until she moved to Fort Collins and then joined First United Methodist Church in 1962.
Merilyn worked as an assistant credit manager for a local corporation for many years, after the company closed she worked in the Registrar's office at CSU until retiring in 2007.
Merilyn was a majority member of Job's Daughters International, past Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine of Jerusalem, life member of American Association of University Women. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States by motorhome, airplane and automobile.
Merilyn volunteered for many activities at First United Methodist Church including, Senior Council, van transportation escort, and Prayer Shawl Ministry. She volunteered with the Northern Colorado Faith Library as a volunteer and cataloger as well as McKee Medical Center in Loveland with their Craft fair and P.A.R.T.Y. program.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St.,
