Melba Lou Treaster (nee. Mauck) 93, died on January 16, 2023. She was born December 10, 1929, the eighth of ten children born to Phillip Alvis Mauck and Bessie Fern Mauck (nee. Holmes) in Langdon, Reno County Kansas. Melba graduated from Langdon High School and Sterling College, where she met Arlen Treaster and they married December 16, 1950. She taught grades K through 12 in Kansas country schools, before earning her Master's Degree from Emporia State University in 1964. Melba and Arlen and their two sons moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1967. They were both hired by the Poudre Valley School District. Melba was head of the Title 1 Remedial Reading Program. Melba was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Beulah Bessie Mauck; Alma Lois Mauck; Phyllis Mae Mauck; Elmer Howard Mauck; Kenneth Mauck (Argle Schmidt); Mildred Elaine Mauck Decker Applegate (Kenneth Decker, Harold Glenn Applegate); Kenton Mauck (Christine Bauer); Henry Mauck (Esther Nicks); Marjorie Mauck Kinney McKinney (John D. Kinney, Robert McKinney); and husband, Arlen Wallace Treaster. She is survived by her sons Paul Treaster (Robin Cook); Andrew Philip Treaster (Lori Elliot); grandsons Philip Arlen Treaster (Adnamara Farias), Isaac Wallace Treaster (Sara Rydberg); James Andrew Treaster; granddaughter Breanna Marie Treaster and great-grandson Dylan Knox Treaster. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1709 W. Elizabeth St., Fort Collins, CO on May 20, 2023. A light lunch will be served after the service. Melba suggested memorials to Sterling College of Sterling, Kansas or Westminster Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins, CO.
