Mayo C. Larance, "Larry" to friends and family, passed away on August 14th in Fort Collins, Colorado. Larry was born August 18, 1921 in Dubach, Louisiana to the late Willis and Maud Andrews Larance. His early years were spent on the family farm just outside of Dubach. In 1942 he enlisted in the army, and served his country for over 20 years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps before retiring as Sergeant First Class in 1964. His service was recognized by award of the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After the military, he spent his civilian career working in the radiology department as chief radiology technician at Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston, Missouri. He enjoyed his years at the hospital working with the many wonderful doctors, nurses, and coworkers. Throughout his life and with his beloved wife Lorraine always at his side, he raised four children, logged countless miles traveling across the country – leaving a few dollars behind at casinos on occasion - and always enjoyed his time with family and his many friends. He was also an avid gardener, loved reading westerns by Louis L'Amour, and enjoyed camping and fishing. Larry was a good and kind man, devoted husband, a great father and an awesome grandpa. Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lorraine and four children – Beverly Mobley of Parkville, Missouri; Patti Larance-Whicker of Los Alamos, New Mexico; Greg Larance of Apex, North Carolina; and Brad Larance of Littleton, Colorado; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow Larance and sister, Clotile Bagley. A Funeral Service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Dr. David Dalke will officiate the service. Graveside Service with Military Honors will be Thursday, 11:30 a.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area B, Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization. Larry's family wishes to thank all of the wonderful healthcare professionals at Poudre Valley Hospital for their support, compassion and dedicated care.
