Maxine Doris Tamlin

Maxine Doris (Nix) Tamlin, was born in Nunn, Colorado, on October 12, 1935, to Marshall and Minnie (Dyer) Nix. Maxine passed away on August 16, 2016.

Maxine grew up in Waverly, Colorado, attending elementary, junior high and high school at the Waverly School. She married Richard Villars Tamlin on September 30, 1950, and they made the Fort Collins area their home, adding a daughter and son to their family.

During her early years of marriage, Maxine took pride in her role as wife, mother and homemaker. She decided to work outside of the home when her children began school. She made a career of over thirty years at Colorado State University working at the Engineering Research Center, the Personnel Office, the College of Agricultural Sciences, and Extension.

Maxine was a very active member of the Meadowlark Church of Christ, teaching children's Sunday school, women's Bible class, and coordinating the clothing bank outreach mission. She was an avid quilter and belonged to several local quilt clubs. Because of her interest in local history, she was also a member of the Pioneer Association.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Richard "Corky" Tamlin; her daughter, Becky Lynn Tamlin of Fort Collins; and son, Jerry "Bob" Tamlin (Susan) of Johnstown; grandchildren, Jeremy Tamlin (Brooke), Tandi McBlair, Traci Reeve (Darby), and Betsy Sparling (Keith); great grandchildren Kalee, Makenna, Elijah, Abigail, Cale, Sadie, and Breckan; and sister, Mildred Morlock of Oregon. She is preceded in death by grandson, Christopher Tamlin; parents, Marshall and Minnie (Dyer) Nix; brothers, Willard Nix, Leonard Nix, and Gene Nix, and sisters, Grace Brown and Bernice Brewer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain States Children's' Home in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Meadowlark Church of Christ, 2810 Meadowlark Avenue.
