Maxine Clark passed away peacefully at home, May 1, 2017 in Fort Collins, CO. She was born June 13, 1929 in Russell, Kansas. At 6 months of age she moved with her parents Clarence and Margaret Reiff to Kremmling, CO, where she lived until 1995, moving to Fort Collins, CO.
After graduating from Kremmling Union High School in 1947, she attended and graduated from Colorado Women's College in Denver. It was in college she learned to fly and owned her own piper cub plane she flew from Denver to Kremmling. One of her favorite stories was offering to fly her friends around the outskirts of Kremmling, over the cliffs and land at the airport for a quarter.
She married Carroll Clark from Hot Sulphur Springs in 1951 and resided there until 1955 when they moved to Greeley, CO where Carroll worked as a pharmacist at Cook's Drug and Maxine took care of their daughter, Dee. In 1959, the family moved back to Kremmling after purchasing the drug store, naming it Clark's Pharmacy, and added a son, Mark, to the family the same year. Carroll and Maxine together built their dream drug store on Highway 40 in 1986 and ran the store until Carroll's passing in 1990. Maxine then kept the store open till 2003 when the pharmacy was sold.
During her years in Kremmling as a wife and mother, Maxine was involved in many organizations and clubs that involved her husband and children. She received her Brokers License and sold mainly vacant land plots all around Grand County. Maxine knew the county well, having fished in every stream, river and lake with her Dad and anyone who would go with her. She also was involved at the Kremmling Episcopal Church, which meant a lot to her. After moving to Fort Collins, Maxine was active in the Casa Grande Community where she lived, the Senior Center, the Aspen Club, taking day trips and volunteering at Poudre Valley Hospital.
Maxine was loved and will be missed by her friends and family including: her daughter, Denice (Dee) Duffy (David); son, Mark Clark (Tenny); sister, Anita Taussig; sister-in-law, Gloria Clark; brother-in-law, Dave Forster; grandson, Dan Duffy (Amy); granddaughter, Davina Duffy; 5 great grandchildren; 6 nieces and a nephew; and many beloved cousins.
