Max E. Welty was born on February 2, 1927 to John J. Welty and Viola Belle Fowler Welty. Max has two children, a step son - Dan E. Parker, and a son by natural means - Johnny Mack Welty. Max is survived by a sister, Doris Welty Gregory, and two nieces - Paulette Gregory Schoenfeld and Debbi Gregory Lawhead, and a nephew - Rick Gregory.
Mr. Max Welty was raised in Nebraska, the son of two hard-working farmers; this is where he developed his love of cattle ranching. After his service in the Navy during WWII, he came back to Nebraska where he met and fell in love with Ella Louise Lee Parker. Two years later, Johnny Mack made the family a foursome.
The lure of life in Colorado soon tempted the family to northern Colorado, so they moved to Fort Collins where Max Welty worked several jobs, including managing a gas station. He soon made friends with Dick Betzing and Bud Schwartz, the owners of a real estate agency. Eventually, the agency broke up with Bud and Max going their own way; they formed their own agency called Western Ranch Corporation. Bud, eventually, retired, leaving Max to run the agency. Max had a good life, getting to know many of the successful ranchers in the western United States. He was a prominent member of the Western Stock Show.
Max loved to hunt and fish, traveling to Alaska, British Columbia, and throughout the western US. In its prime, his home was quite the site for trophy animals, including bears, elk, deer, mountain lions, sheep, goats, moose and others. He loved to tell stories of his exploits.
Max E. Welty lived a long and successful life. He was very proud of his two sons, and he loved his wife, Louise.
