Maurice R. Aranda

Oct 30, 1944 — Apr 22, 2026

Listen to Obituary
Maurice Robert Aranda (81) of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on October 30, 1944, to Paul and Cora Aranda in Denver, Colorado.

Maurice served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator from 1963 to1967. Following his military service, he worked for the Rio Grande Railroad (Southern Pacific/Union Pacific), Tennessee Valley Authority, and DTE Energy. He eventually returned to the railroad and retired after 30 years of service.

In 1989, Maurice met Lynda Chambers while singing together in their church choir in Rowland Heights, California. They were married on September 29th, 1990, in the backyard of his home, and spent 35 wonderful years together. The two moved from California to Colorado and also lived in Tennessee and Texas.

Maurice had a strong personal relationship with the Lord. He loved Jesus and demonstrated this by his love for his neighbor. Maurice worked very hard providing for his family. Outside of working, Maurice spent countless hours serving his church, family, and community. He participated in mission trips throughout his lifetime and worked with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, helping to rebuild communities outside of his own and spread the love of God.

He enjoyed golfing and watching the Denver Broncos. He loved music, teaching himself to play piano and singing to his children. Maurice was very handy. Whether he was building a fence or bookcase, his family and friends always had a helping hand. Maurice was deeply loved just as he loved others, and will be missed just as much, but let us find comfort knowing he is whole and healed, walking in the presence of Jesus.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Aranda; His children, Robin (Dave), Maurice (Michelle), Meghan, Joel (Savannah), and Olivia; grandchildren, Johnny (Kristin), Jaimee (Steven), Hudson; His great-grandchild, Levi; His siblings, Stella (Richard), Betty, and Arthur "Eddie" (JoAnn). He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Dawn, and his siblings Paul, Joseph "Joe", Rosie, and Robert "Bob".
