Matthew Lane Quitmeyer was born June 23, 1981 in Lincoln, Neb. In 1988, he moved with his family to Fort Collins, where he had resided since. He died July 25, 2008. He was the son of Julie Quitmeyer and Larry Quitmeyer; brother of Leslie Quitmeyer, all of Fort Collins; grandson of Norine Quitmeyer of Lexington, Neb. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Matt graduated from Rocky Mountain High School in 2000, and received a graphic design degree from Front Range Community College in 2005. Since then, he had been pursuing a Bachelor's Degree at Colorado State University, majoring in Spanish, and working part time at local restaurants. As a child, Matt participated in Cub Scouts, skateboarding, baseball and art, all with great enthusiasm. He pursued art into adulthood with unique and creative oil paintings and enjoyed music. Matt faced severe headaches with great courage for many years. His gentle spirit and sense of humor made him a continuing rainbow in our lives. Matt's family greatly appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers from everyone. Those who desire may view Matt, Wednesday, 3 - 6 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Stuart. Rev. Jim Rasmussen will officiate at the service. Contributions may be made to the Matthew Quitmeyer Memorial Fund for Headache Relief or the Matthew Quitmeyer Memorial Art Scholarship in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
