Mary Anna Reuter, 85, passed away on August 2, 2022 at her home in Fort Collins, Colorado surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1937 to Albin and Grace Mattson in DeKalb, Illinois.
After Mary Anna graduated from St. Charles High School in Illinois, she went on to earn a Cosmetology license after attending Rockford Illinois Beauty College and was a beautician for years. She married Darwin Reuter on August 25,1956 and welcomed two children, Mark and Stephanie. Later she took computer classes at Front Range Community College in Colorado. When her kids were older, she worked in the cafeteria at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, where she retired.
As a child, Mary Anna was an active participant in 4-H where she learned many skills that served her throughout her life. As a wife and mom, she was involved in numerous activities with both children such as Scouts, Room Mom, Team Mom, and made the shirts and capes for the Drumline at Columbine High School. Sewing became one of Mary Anna's many passions; providing costumes, clothing, Topcoats, and toys that have been passed down from generation to generation. She also excelled at quilting, embroidering, cross stitching, and knitting. Along with sewing, Mary Anna became a very talented gardener, growing all different kinds of flowers and vegetables. Watching the Broncos and keeping score while watching the Rockies and her granddaughter's softball games became a favorite pastime too. Other interests she enjoyed were cooking, photography, puzzles, musicals, bird watching, walking, Sudoku, along with feeding birds, squirrels, and ducks in her backyard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Grace (Darling) Mattson.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Darwin Reuter, children Mark Reuter (Barbara) of Commerce City, CO, and Stephanie Darling of Fort Collins, CO, five grandchildren; Jason Carlson (Carrie) of Sydney, NE, Tim Carlson (Erin) of Fort Collins, CO, Alyssa Krause (Trevor) of Lingle, WY, Ashley Andrews of Greeley, CO, and Madison Reuter of Commerce City, CO, eight great-grandchildren; Meekah and Charleigh Carlson, Lillian Carlson, Brinley, Cason and Easton Krause, Diego Romero, and Azaleah Watkins, and Mary Anna's brother, David Mattson of Ormand Beach, FL.
