Listen to Obituary
Mary P. King passed away June 17, 2017 at home with her family by her side.

Mary was born in Rochester MN, September 9, 1936, daughter of Frank and Martha Schrom. After graduating from Owatonna High School in 1954, she headed west first to Seattle and then to Los Angeles where she worked as a waitress at the Flight Deck at LAX. Some of her fondest memories were serving such celebrities as Roy Rogers, Laurence Welk, Liberace, John Wayne and Clark Gable to name just a few.

In Los Angeles, she married Emerson Owens King (Bud) and started their family with the births of their sons, Mark and Scott. In 1964 the family moved to Fort Collins to open the Spudnut Shop on College Avenue. She most enjoyed gardening, coffee clutch afternoons with her sisters, visits to Black Hawk, canning fruit and vegetables, and sharing her love of cooking with family and friends: cinnamon rolls for a bus load of Scott's students from Jackson Hole, caramel corn to send to family and friends, Christmas cookies and fudge to her nephew and wife in California, tacos for her grandson, Jacob and his marine buddies, and her delicious cakes and pies for every occasion or no occasion at all.

She was preceded in death by her brother, PFC John Schrom (Vietnam); her sister, Veronica Armstrong; and parents, Frank and Martha Schrom.

She is survived by her husband, Emerson; son, Mark and Kelly King; son, Scott and Lou Marchesano; grandson, Jacob and Maddie King; granddaughter, Katie and Josh Dunford; brother, Michael Schrom and sisters, Martha King, Dolores Hennessy, and Kathy Schafer.

The family wishes to thank all her doctors, nurses, physical and occupational therapists and Pathways Hospice staff. Donations in her memory can be made to the Lupus Foundation in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, CO 80524.

There is no formal service scheduled at this time. The family invites all friends to join them in remembrance at an Open House on Saturday, June 24 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 3336 Terrywood Rd, Ft Collins.
