Mary L. Baca

July 4, 1927 — February 26, 2016

Listen to Obituary
On February 26, 2016 Louise Anita Solano, also known and loved as Mary Lou Baca was called home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Tom Baca. On this day her body succumbed to cancer but her spirit did not lose as she conquered and surpassed all expectations.

Mary Lou Baca was born on July 4, 1927 in Milliken, Colorado to Pedro Solano and Fernanda Gillen. She lived a full and joyful life of cooking, baking, and canning. She could always be found rooting for her favorite WWE/WWF wrestler and against the "mean" ones. Any chance she could get she would be outside. If she wasn't tending to her garden she was looking for the perfect garage sale or taking walks in the neighborhood. She enjoyed sewing keepsake quilts for family and friends; a grandma blanked is as treasured as any amount of gold on the planet. She also loved camping in Poudre Canyon with her family.

Mary worked at the ElderHaus for many years as a cook and server as well as tending to the patients. She enjoyed being with family and always had a warm meal for anyone who came to visit her. She would not let you leave her home unless you were full and happy.

Mary married Tom Baca Jr. and enjoyed nearly 60 years being by each other's side. She is survived by her children Loretta Jean Weeks, Alfred Alvin Baca, Diana Lynn Baca, Shirley Mae Baca, and James Michael Baca and Pat Gillen. Mary also loved each of her 10 grand kids and 18 great-grand kids as well as her four- legged companion Prince. She was preceded in death by her Father Pedro Solano, Mother Fernanda Solano, husband Tom Baca Jr., Sister Carmen Moyot, and Brother Ralph Solano.

Mary will be remembered on Friday, March 4th at the Holy Family Church in Fort Collins, Colorado during a public service. The Rosary will be given at 9:30 am and the service will be at 10:00.

There will be a gathering of friends and family at the Holy Family hall after the service with food and stories. Flowers can be sent to Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524. A memorial Facebook page has also been set up under Mary Lou Baca for friends and family to leave comments and pictures. Send a friends request and we will accept to give you access.
