Listen to Obituary
Marvin Richard Moore (June 13, 1940-April 7, 2025)
Marv, as he was known, was born on June 13, 1940 in Hillsdale, Michigan to Mariebelle Moore (née Jacobus) and Richard Wilbur Moore. He grew up in Lansing, Michigan with his parents,
brother, William Moore, and sister, Marti De La O (née Moore.) He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, earning the honor of Eagle Scout. He developed an early love and wonder for the natural world, spending time with family and friends, forming memories he continued to cherish.

He graduated from Eastern High School in 1958 then was granted a scholarship to attend Michigan State University, where he earned a Doctorate of Psychology. He was active in the civil rights movement and learned to fly fish on the Au Sable River. After graduating in 1968, he moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to serve as Director of the Counseling Center at Colorado State University. He worked with students, taught classes, and supervised graduate students. He met lifelong friends, with whom he met regularly for breakfast at Avo's, which continued for years after. He built a cabin with family and friends near the Wyoming border. For the rest of his life, "The Cabin" would be a place of gathering, solace, and joy, where he would hike, hunt, and fish with friends and family, and be with the animals and birds that brought him so much joy and peace. He rightfully considered himself a fly fishing "stalker of Brook Trout." He also loved visiting Marty's family cottage in Cape Cod every summer.

Following CSU, Marv entered private practice as a clinical psychologist, and later, co-owned a treatment program for at-risk adolescents. He also served as clinical director of the treatment program, Harmony, in Estes Park, until retiring at the age of 79. Over the years, he helped countless people.

Marv fought congestive heart failure, which ultimately took him from us. He passed away at home with family on the night of Monday, April 7, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marty (Martha-Ann) Moore (née Owen), his son, Rico (Richard) Moore and Tirzah Goldenberg, his son, Matthew Moore, his daughter Angela
Anderson (née Moore) and Tim Anderson, his grandchildren, Beaudry and Kate Moore, Montanna and Dakota Hood, Kennadee and Marcus Holder, Ariana Anderson, and Trey Anderson great-grandchildren, Everett, Bode, Rudie, and Hallie, and brother, Will Moore and Mary Carrahar, and sister, Marti De Lao and Richard De Lao.

Marv always put others' needs before his own. He was a compassionate and strong man who loved and took excellent care of his family, friends, and community. His acts of love and kindness will echo and reverberate throughout eternity. We'll see you soon, Dad.
