Marvin Alexander Hodsden, Jr., 82, of Fort Collins, died at home on July 16, 2024 after a long journey with multiple health complications. Mr. Hodsden was born June 2, 1942 in Lamar, CO. He attended school in Springfield, CO graduating from Springfield High School. Following graduation, he attended Colorado State University, where he was on the track team and earned a B.S. in Physical Science in 1964 and a Masters degree in Education in 1968. Marvin met Janice Stegner through her brother Mike while teaching and coaching at Poudre High School. They were married on August 18, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Fort Collins, CO. The couple made their home in Fort Collins, moving into their lifelong home in 1971. Marvin taught math and computers over a 32 year teaching and coaching career at Poudre HS and Rocky Mountain HS in Fort Collins from 1968-1999. He coached diving, track and cross country over the course of his career. Coaching the 1968 Poudre HS Cross Country team to the school's first State Championship in any sport. Teaching and coaching brought him tremendous joy due to the positive impact he could have on thousands of students. Marvin started Colorado Accutrack in the 1970's, producing photo finish timing results for track organizations from the Special Olympics to US Olympic Sports Festivals. He enjoyed attending Colorado State football and basketball games, fishing, camping and coaching his kids. In more recent years, he loved attending the concerts and sporting events involving his grandchildren. In retirement, Marvin and Janice operated Custom Quality Cleaning, serving families and businesses throughout Fort Collins. Marvin enjoyed his Friday morning Breakfast Club with other retired teachers and friends. They loved traveling to visit family, attending CSU basketball conference tournaments in Las Vegas and an occasional out of town CSU football game. Marvin's faith in Jesus, as his Lord and Savior, was impacted at Faith Church by countless staff and friends. He is survived by his wife Janice Hodsden and their children, Greg Sharron Hodsden of Fort Collins, CO; Jenny Mike Lippold of Aurora, CO, Sherrie Brian Kendall of Portland, OR and Bret Kristi Hodsden of Lyman, NE; his sister Janet Jo Keith Lacy; 13 grandchildren, Rachel, Zach, Jessica Hodsden, Garrett, Tanner, Madison Lippold, Ian Annie, Sydney, Lucy Kendall; Tucker, Regan, Bryce, Alissa Hodsden; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Alexander Sr. and Ruth Hodsden Bradley and Howard Bradley. Marvin's family would like to thank the staff of Bloom at Home and Pathways Hospice for their friendship and loving care. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The graveside service will be held at 9:30am, Thursday July 25, 2024 at Grandview Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11am at Faith Church, 3920 S. Shields Street, Fort Collins, CO 80526. Memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
