Martha V. Schrom, 96, of Fort Collins died unexpectedly on Aug. 19, 2008, in a car accident returning home from a family reunion in Minnesota. Mrs. Schrom was born in Owat-onna, Minn., on Jan. 17, 1912. She was the daughter of Frank and Julia Kubista. She married Frank Schrom on June 10, 1931, at Sacred Heart Parish in Owatonna. Frank and Martha had five daughters and two sons, Veronica Armstrong, Mary King, Martha King, Dee Hennessy, Katherine Schafer, John Schrom and Michael Schrom. She had five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. She is survived by a brother, Charlie Kubista; and sister, Harriet Jirousek both of Owatonna, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; daughter, Veronica; son, John who died in Vietnam; three brothers, three sisters and four sons in law; Cecil King, Robert Schafer, Lester Armstrong and Nicholas Hennessy. Martha moved to Fort Collins in 1986. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 20 years, a member of the Legion of Mary and American Legion Auxiliary. She was active in quilting and church bazaars. Remarkably, she was able to grow and tend her vegetable garden up until this year. She enjoyed making home made noodles, jams and Kolaches. She was a great mother and a blessing to all of her family. She treated all of her children alike. She will be deeply missed by all of us. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Father Roger Lascelle will officiate at the services. Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Friends may send condolences to the family at bohlenderfuneralchapel.com.
