Martha King, 80, of Ft. Collins passed away June 1st, 2019 at McKee Medical Center Pathways Hospice Unit. Born in Rochester, Minnesota to parents Martha and Frank Schrom. After high school she settled in Los Angeles, California where she found her career in cooking and baking at United Airline Flight Kitchen. She met her husband Cecil and they married in 1959. They and family moved to Ft. Collins in 1964 to open the Spudnut Shop on College Ave. She loved spending time baking and cooking for her siblings and extended family and friends. All holidays were at her home. Her son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. If it wasn't cooking in the kitchen it was Sgt. Martha barking orders, "Get the lawn mowed!"
She is survived by her son Kenny; grandchildren, Kendra King and Jami Frey; great-grandchildren, Matt, Missey, and Shelby; two sisters, Dee Hennessey and Kathy Schafer; a brother Mike Schrom, and nephews, Mark and Scott King.
The family wishes to thank all her doctors and nurses, the Cancer Center and Pathways Hospice staff. Donation in her memory can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Pathways Hospice.
There is no formal service scheduled at this time. The family invites all friends to join them in remembrance at an Open House on Saturday, June 29th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 3336 Terrywood Rd, Ft. Collins.
