Marshall Thomas Mccarthy

February 12, 1985 — September 9, 2022

Listen to Obituary
Marshall Thomas McCarthy was born February 12, 1985, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. After a courageous fourteen-month battle with cancer, Marshall passed away peacefully on September 9th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Marshall was a native of Fort Collins, attending Riffenburgh Elementary, Boltz Junior High School, and graduating from Fort Collins High as a proud Lambkin. He worked for Albertsons/Safeway as a Produce Clerk for almost 20 years.

He had a passion for sports at an early age. He competed in soccer with the Fort Collins Arsenal and played Junior Lambkin basketball, eventually playing basketball at Fort Collins High. As an adult, Marshall enjoyed playing roller hockey, ice hockey and disc golf with his family and friends. However, his true passion was traveling. He was able to visit Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Amsterdam, Italy, India, and Bhutan, and had a special place in his heart for Africa.

Although his life was cut short, his impact was felt by all of those he met. He was caring, kind, compassionate, and had a willingness to help anyone in need. His life was lived with fierce love and loyalty to his family and friends, making sure that his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews were always taken care of and loved. Nothing made Marshall happier than gathering with the ones he loved, to eat good food, watch sports, and play any game, especially cribbage.

Marshall is survived by his loving parents, Jim and Ginny McCarthy, his sister Meagan McCarthy Dahlgren (John), brothers Bear McCarthy (Jen), Mitch McCarthy (Miel); nephews Nicholas Dahlgren, Zachary Dahlgren, Max Dahlgren, James McCarthy; nieces Lyla McCarthy and Ellen McCarthy, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

The family would like to send their appreciation to the many amazing doctors, nurses, and other medical staff at Anschutz Medical Center, Poudre Valley Hospital, and The Harmony Cancer Center, with a very special thank you for the loving care from Colleen Ellmer, Lisa Radice, Dr. Matt Sorensen, and Dr. Chris Lieu.

A Celebration of Marshall's life will be held at the Fort Collins Senior Center on October 14th from 2pm-6pm. Light snacks and beverages will be served, casual attire is appropriate.
