Marlene Lesa Ekberg, 43, of Fort Collins, peacefully passed on Jan. 4, 2007, at her residence. Her family and friends knew her affectionately as "Moutz." Marlene was born May 9, 1963, in Wray to Norman Kay Ekberg and Eloise Mary O'Brien Ekberg. She was raised in Beacher Island. She moved with her family to Sterling in 1970. Marlene has lived the past 26 years in Fort Collins. She worked for Larimer County Animal Control for 14 years and was also a truck driver for Warner Enterprises. Marlene enjoyed riding her Harley Davidson, "Harvey," the outdoors and her children. Marlene was a wonderful mother to Lisa Marie Ekberg and Anthony Lee Baca Jr., both of Fort Collins. Other survivors include a brother, Mike Ekberg and Cindy Futch of Fort Collins; one sister, Marcia Dreiling and her husband Tony of Fort Collins; a nephew, Doyle Dake; and Marlene's boyfriend, Steve Lockerman; a sister, April and John Williamson and their children Ashley and Austin all of Fort Collins; and Ginger Ekberg Charvat of Fort Collins, and her grandmother, Norma Ekberg of Fort Collins. She is preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Foothills Wesleyan Church, 220 N. Taft Hill Road. Interment will follow at a later date in Armel Cemetery, Armel, Colo. Pastor Dan Denison will officiate the service.
