Mark Douglas Smith of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Mark loved music and his playlist was filled with playlist: from David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, and The Beatles to Stevie Wonder, Maroon 5, and Ed Sheeran. Raised in Jefferson, Ohio, Mark thought playing guitar in a band with platform shoes and silver shiny pants sounded better than college. But he soon realized a Bachelors in Business at Kent State was a better plan. While working as an appraiser with his brother-in-law, Lou, they wrote their own music and recorded covers. Then Mark found interested in the emerging computer field so he finished remodeling his house and sold it to pay for his Masters at University of Arizona in 1984. Hewlett Packard brought him to Loveland, Colorado, where he met Dorsi. Together they enjoyed bicycling around the US and traveling the world. He worked for OpenView and Firehunter at HP/Agilent in Fort Collins followed by Indicative, NimSoft and he retired from CA Technologies in 2014. Mark was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia in 2014 and he enjoyed life until August 7, 2017.

Mark is survived by wife, Dorsi; and children, Nicole, Evan and Alexa Smith of Fort Collins; his sister, Deb Coccia (Lou) and nieces, Erin Hamel (Brian, children: Maddie and Nathan) and Amy Mahon (Jon) of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. and Margie Smith of Rock Hill/Jefferson.

Life Celebration is Thursday, August 17, 2017 at McKenzie Place Lodge, 4750 Pleasant Oak Dr, Open House from 5-8 pm. Honor Mark by wearing a symbol of your favorite band/concert or college basketball team.
