Marjorie Mae McGuire, 71, of Thornton, passed away Dec. 9, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, after a lengthy illness. Marjorie was born Aug. 12, 1935, in Fort Collins to Joseph Christopher and Eunice Mae Gault Christopher. She lived her first 40 years in Fort Collins before moving to the Denver area. Marjorie was married to Chester Payton in May 1952. They had four children, Michael Kay Payton of Fort Collins, Darrell Payton, Donna Bill Swartout of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Terry Payton of Arvada. In December 1958 she was married to Jess Stringham and they had one son, Bill Stringham of Arvada. She is survived by her husband, John Dennis McGuire of Thornton; two sisters, Ann Johnson of Pueblo and Betty Griffin of Peabody, Mass. Marjorie has eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jess Stringham, one son; and one granddaughter. Marjorie was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed sewing and all types of crafts including collecting and making dolls. She also volunteered her time with the Veterans Administration. In her later years, she enjoyed the loving companionship of her two dogs, Little and Midget. Services will be held 1 p.m. today at Bohlender Funeral Chapel with interment at Grandview Cemetery immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made in her name in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins 80524.
