Marion "Babe" R. Boyle Carson was born February 8, 1917 at Fort Collins Hospital. She attended Virginia Dale Church School and Fort Collins High School. Her early days were spent with her parents, John and Ruth Boyle on a homestead at the Fred Maxwell Ranch. They then moved on to the 2 Bar 7 ranch where her father worked for nine years while saving enough money to purchase the Williams place on Pine Creek in 1932, where the family raised Hertford cattle. Babe was sixteen years old when she began to help her father with the ranch, but she had been doing chores and working with cattle most her life. It was here she became the bronc buster, something she was always extremely proud to tell people for the rest of her life. A family friend introduced her to Bill Butler in 1939 and she gave up ranch life to marry him in 1940 and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming for the next ten years. Their first child, James William, was born in 1941, followed by Kathleen Mary in 1944. Wanderlust had a definite hold on Babe all her life. In 1950 Babe moved back to Fort Collins with her children and took a job until she moved to Denver a few years later to take a bank position. In 1954 she met and married her second husband. They moved to Wallingford, Connecticut in 1957 where she worked in a bakery until she moved back to Fort Collins in February of 1959. In 1962 Babe moved to Phoenix and then to the Los Angeles area in 1963, where she became a bank teller. She transferred to the Roseville, California branch where she retired in the early eighties. She lived there for over ten years until failing health brought her back to her hometown for the last time. She lived in assisted living and nursing homes for the next eight and a half years until she succumbed to pneumonia complications on December 21, 2011, two months short of her 95th birthday. Babe's parents and brother, Fred, and sister-in-law, Ruth, and nephew Michael Boyle, preceded her in death. She is survived by son, James Butler and his sons, Jimmy and Daniel; daughter, Kathleen and her children, Beverly, Carrie and Kevin; and their father, Les Foreman; great grandchildren are Kimberly Ann, Jeffery Walter, and Kalee McKenzie; great, great grandchildren, Emma, Evelyn and Kaiya; and nieces and nephews, John, Dorothy, Richard, Casey, and Pat.
