Marion R. Benedict, of Fort Collins, died at his residence Friday, Nov. 16, 2007. He was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Iliff to Stella and Irwin F. Benedict. Upon graduation from Brighton High School, he entered the armed forces, where he served in World War II while traveling through North Africa, Sicily and Italy. He then married Dorothy Schulz on Jan. 6, 1946. Much of Marion's time and passion went into Benedict Upholstery, which he owned and operated with his sons. He also enjoyed fishing, weekends in Steamboat Springs and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marion is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; sister, Rosalie; sons, Ed Geraldine, David Paula and James; daughter, Beth Simpson; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, 305 E. Elizabeth St. The Rev. Brian Bestian will officiate at the service.
