Marilyn Kim Carpenter

July 11, 1959 — March 6, 2024

Listen to Obituary
Marilyn Kim Carpenter, 64, of Fort Collins, CO, passed away on March 6, 2024, her family is profoundly saddened.

Kim was born on July 11, 1959, to Tom W Carpenter, Jr and Dorothy May Dowdy in Amarillo, TX. Kim graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1977 in Dallas Texas. She then went on to study classical guitar at the University of Arkansas where she graduated with a degree in Musical Education.

She went on to have two children, Julie Moreno, 41, and Christy Buffington, 39. Kim was an exemplary mother and human being. She embodied the best of qualities:
unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity to everyone. You could always be yourself around her.

While her daughters were in school, in 2001 she completed her Master of Education with a certification in school counseling from the University of Texas at Brownsville.
And began her career as a school counselor.

In 2015, Kim retired after serving as an Educator in the state of Texas for 23 years. She then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to spend her time in the mountains and with her.
grandchildren, Lola 10, and Caroline, 6. Besides spending time with her grandchildren Kim loved to read, watch movies, hike, play the guitar, and mahjong with her friends.

Kim is survived by her stepmother; Elaine Carpenter, brothers; Tres Carpenter (wife Peggy Carpenter), Kenny Carpenter (wife Joni Carpenter), children; Julie Moreno,
Christy Buffington, grandchildren; Lola and Caroline, sons-in-law; Franco Moreno and Nathaniel Goertz, nieces and nephews; Cambra, Jesse, Sierra and their children and
grandchildren.

Her departure leaves a hole in the hearts of her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply. The family appreciates your support during this difficult time. In lieu
of flowers, please contribute to Fort Collins Symphony, an organization she felt strongly about.
