Marie Antoinette Plum Irvin, 87, went to be with Lord Jesus on October 11, 2011 at her home in Fort Collins, Colorado. Marie was born near Logan, Iowa on April 25, 1924 to Fred A. and Mary V. Kellogg Plumb. Her early childhood was spent near Harlan and Tennent, Iowa on the family farm. Her teenage years were spent on the family farm in Boone County, Nebraska. Marie graduated from Albion High School, in Albion, Nebraska in May of 1941. She spent the summer and fall in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and returned to her home in December of 1941. In August of 1942 Marie, her mother, Mary, older sister, Mildred, and a cousin came to Palisade, Colorado to work in the peach harvest where she met Glenn S. Irvin. They were married on June 6, 1943 in Loretta, Nebraska, and returned to Masonville, Colorado and lived on the family ranch until 1957 when the family moved to Fort Collins, where Glenn worked. Marie and Glenn were married for 61 years, until his death in 2004. Marie will always be remembered as a loving wife and a loving mother of three children, Wayne, of Loveland, Colorado, and two daughters, Anne, and Joyce Irvin of Fort Collins. She had three grandchildren, Glenn W. Irvin Toni Ray, Fred P. Irvin Laura, and Clories Y. Wienland Irvin, Nathan, and five great-grandchildren. Marie enjoyed crocheting and embroidery, and especially camping and traveling in a camper trailer. Marie was a devoted Christian lady who enjoyed the love of her family and giving to them as much as was possible, the love she was taught through the love of Christ. She will be missed very much by all her family and friends. Marie is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, her brother, and daughter-in-law, Peggy.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 17, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Bohlender Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Bohlender Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, October 19, at 1:30 pm. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery Gardens at about 3:00 p.m. on the 19th.
