Mariana V. Ortiz

Mariana V Ortiz, age 78, born July 24,1938 in Corpus Christi, TX. Daughter of Marcelino Viesca & Luz Cruz, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Nov 2nd, 2016.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Brother Angel Viesca, Husband Carlos Ruiz Ortiz, and her Son Marcelino (Marty) Ortiz.

She is survived by 1 Brother Antonio Viesca, 12 Children, 7 daughters: Mary Ortiz Avalos & Husband Carlos Avalos, Anselma Ortiz, Mariana Hernandez & Husband Marco Hernandez, Trinidad Ortiz Hernandez & Husband Antonio Hernandez, Bernadette (Katey) Ortiz, Sanjuana (Samantha) Rodriguez, Angelita (Jennifer) Rodriguez, 5 Sons: Carlos Jr Ortiz, Marco Antonio Ortiz, Humberto (Hubert) Jr Rodriguez, Alex (Tom) Ortiz, Martin (Marty) Ortiz. Of her 13 children, she had 45 Grandchildren and 53 Great Grandchildren.

She married Carlos Ruiz Ortiz on October 31st ,1958. They moved from Texas to Colorado in 1958, to the area of Timnath, Windsor, and Fort Collins, where they started their family. The two of them were migrant workers and she was also home to raise their children.

After she lost her husband on May 4th,1979, she worked with the Forestry Government, Pickel Factory, and Social Service Department. Then became a homemaker again to raise her children.
She loved spending time with her family. When it came to the seasons changing she loved the spring for the fresh grass, leaves and flowers, the fall weather because of the changing colors of the falling leaves and the pumpkins, and especially loved the holidays. She would enjoy the Christmas lights in Old Town Fort Collins and making tamales on Christmas Eve with her family.
She was a Joker with a very great sense of humor which some of us have, and she had an amazing memory like no other. She never forgot anyone's birthday even for how big her family was. She also loved Bingo, reading, coloring, sitting outside and being barefoot, or with socks on, and just enjoying the weather, her flowers and of course her cats and dog Mr. Fluffy. He was very protective of her and never left her side.

She loved to shop with her kids and cruise around out on the country roads and into the mountains, to one of her favorite places, Estes Park. Another thing she was always anxious to do was head to the casino's every year for her birthday, or any other occasion, with her bag of quarters ready to go.

She loved her plants and had a green thumb for all them. She liked collecting dolls, angels, and Kitty Knick knacks.

You had a great life with a heart of Gold, you will be truly missed.

We know you are in God's home now and with your loved ones, We are truly blessed to have had such a great Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Sister, Tia, and Prima. You will live on in our hearts and through our many memories in all that we do. You showed us how to have love, peace,
togetherness, patience, happiness and to never forget to be adventurous.

Viewing will be held Sunday, 12-4 p.m. and Monday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will be held Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2 p.m. Both services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
