Dr. Marian J. Scheer, 82, of Windsor, Colorado and Murrieta, California passed away at home on December 7, 2020 from Covid-19. Her husband of 31 years, Dr. Stan Scheer followed her in death 6 days later, also from Covid-19.
Marian was born in Torrington, Wyoming on September 6, 1938 to Ruth Green and Edwin Ries. Her family moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming when she was a child. She attended Cheyenne High School and graduated in 1957.
She began teaching in Cheyenne and, after several years, moved to the administrative side of education. Her career path in education was modeled by her own quest for learning. She earned her Ed.D from the University of Wyoming. Her dissertation subject was about teacher evaluation tools. She developed a positive-focused instrument that was used as a model for many years. She continued as an administrator in St. Louis, Missouri. Marian worked with her school and teachers to have multi-aged classrooms through all grades to accommodate children with a wide range of challenges and abilities.
She joined the Naval Reserves as a Seabee in 1976. She was awarded Seabee of the Year for the Cheyenne Unit in 1982. She retired with the rank of Personnel man First Class on September 6, 1998.
Marian is survived by her brother, Larry Ries, and her five children; Cindy Allison McVay, Jim Allison, Stacey Scheer Laurent, Darin Scheer, and Cory Scheer along with 13 grandchildren and a great-grand child.
