Margaret L. Powell

Margaret L. Powell was born on April 19, 1925 to Marion and Myrtle McLachlin in Detroit Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Reynold Dolan. Margaret graduated from Washington Park High School in Racine Wisconsin in 1943. She worked her high school years and summers at Sunnyrest Sanatorium. During World War II she worked at Massey Harris in the Army Ordinance Division as an inspector. After the war she worked at Hamilton Beach.

Margaret married Robert F. Powell on November 9, 1946 who preceded her in death on November 7, 1991. She lived in Racine most of her life and was an active member at Calvary Memorial Church where she served on the mission board, taught Sunday School in the primary department, was a member of the Lend-a-Hand Ruths and the King’s Kouples Sunday School class. She was a teacher’s aide for 14 ½ years with the Racine Unified School District.

Robert and Margaret moved to Fort Collins Colorado in November of 1989 to be near their children. They attended First Baptist Church, now called LifePointe Church. Margaret was a member of the Harvester’s and Lydia Sunday School classes, WMF, and served on the benevolence committee. She volunteered at the Aspen Club and was a faithful volunteer at Poudre Valley Hospital for 25 years. Margaret moved to Good Samaritan Village – Fort Collins on May 12, 2018.

Margaret will be remembered for her deep faith in Jesus as her Savior, her gracious spirit, her serving heart, and being a great friend to many.

Surviving Margaret are her children – Richard (Nancy) Powell and Nancy (John) Hamman; 5 grandchildren - Jennifer Zittle, James Powell, John Powell, Amanda Hartley, Justin Hartley; 19 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Other family members preceded her in death: granddaughter Nicole (Cody) Dill, brother-in-law Leo (Marion) Powell, sister-in-law Ruth (Henning) Hansen, sister-in-law Lucille, in-laws Max and Mary Powell.
