Margaret M. Lee passed away Jan. 18, 2008, at Centre Health and Rehab Facility in Fort Collins surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 31, 1911, to John and Hazel Hinrichs in Kimball, S.D. She married Walter O. "Bud" Lee on Nov. 10, 1934, in Chadron, Neb., and they later moved to Fraser, where Bud worked in the timber business and operated his own sawmill. In 1943, they bought the 600 Ranch at Stove Prairie where they raised their three sons. They operated the sawmill and raised cattle there. After "Bud" Lee died in 1977, Margaret moved to Fort Collins and then to LaPorte for 10 years. Most recently she resided at New Mercer Commons Assisted Living Facility. She was a volunteer at Poudre Valley Hospital for many years and she also made beautiful knit, crocheted and other handwork items for her family members to enjoy. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Aspen Club. Margaret was a gentle soul, so loved by so many, and was always so pleasant and agreeable. Survivors include a son, Carl and his wife, Eloise, of LaPorte; son, Billy and his wife, Deana, of Guernsey, Wyo.; daughter-in-law, Alberta Lee of LaPorte; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Dean; an infant daughter; her parents, two brothers and an infant great-grandson. Margaret's family is very grateful to the staff and residents of New Mercer Commons for their care and friendship; the staff at Centre Health and Rehab for the outstanding care they provided in recent weeks; and also the kind and caring people of Hospice. A graveside service, per her request, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery with a reception to celebrate her life to follow at the American Legion Post in LaPorte.
