Marcia Ann McClure Boggs, born to L.E. ?Mac? and Helen McClure on February 23, 1944, in Lincoln, Nebraska, died at home of natural causes in Fort Collins, Colorado, on May 11, 2010. Marcia spent her early childhood in Lincoln, Nebraska, until the family moved to Fort Collins in 1948. Together with her parents and sister, Marcia enjoyed hiking, camping, exploring the mountains, reading, Girl Scouts, and several school activities. In 1966 Marcia earned her bachelor?s degree in Sociology from Colorado State University and went to work for the Department of Social Services. She married Lloyd Anderton Boggs in 1967. In 1976 she welcomed her first child Ryan and in 1979 she welcomed her daughter Lara. She loved being a mother and was always willing to go on the next big adventure with her children. Young mothers were drawn to her for advice and encouragement. She enjoyed teaching Lamaze classes and parenting was the most important thing to her. Marcia enjoyed several circles of friends who shared countless memories together through work and raising children. She was active in her book group for over 20 years, a church breakfast group, and P.E.O, a women?s group that promotes women?s education. In 1998 she began working for Colorado State University in the Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology Department. She enjoyed working with her graduate students who loved her and sought her out for advice and guidance. The last decade of her life brought may happy times including the marriages of her children and the birth of her three grandchildren, Sullivan, Cooper, and Atti, and time with her many treasured friends. She is survived by her son Ryan McClure Boggs, and daughter-in-law Sjani Boggs, and her daughter, Lara Ann Boggs Arledge and son-in-law Shawn Arledge, her sister, Jean McClure Weibel Allmaras, three grandchildren, Sullivan 3 1/2 Cooper 2 and Atticus 4 months, nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunt and uncle, cousins, former husband, step-son, and countless friends. She was preceeded in death by her father 1990 and her mother 2009. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 17, 2010, at 4:00pm at Foothills Unitarian Church, 1815 Yorktown Avenue, Fort Collins, CO. The Reverend Paul Holdeman will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marcia?s honor to Planned Parenthood or P.E.O Educational Loan Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
